DJ Pencil whose real name is Sammy Moripe was a member of the Barcadi duo -Pencil & Zing master.
The veteran artists died yesterday after battling with an undisclosed illness. Untill his death, he was regarded as one of the greatest Bacardi assets whose contributions gave birth to the Amapiano sound.
Fans across the country are mourning the loss of 40-year-old Bacardi musician Sammy “DJ Pencil” Moripe, who died on Friday following an apparent battle with cancer. The DJ was part of the Barcadi duo Pencil & Zing Master.
Another Barcadi artist has passed on Rest in Peace to Sammy ‘Pencil’ Moripe from the Barcadi duo -Pencil & Zingmaster.

In a statement to The South African, his management Tribal Records said at the time:
“It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Vusi Ma R5, a beloved and talented artists who inspired countless fans fellow artists with his music. The artist, Itumeleng Mosoeu, allegedly ran into an unfortunate incident that led to his untimeley passing in the early hours of Monday morning, 30th January 2023,” the statement read in part.
